Yashasvi Jaiswal, a teenage lad, stood out as his team’s backbone in the last U-19 cricket World cup. A couple of years back, the IPL franchise Rajastan Royals purchased him for a whopping price of 2.4 crores. That’s a huge success to achieve when you are not even in your twenties. It isn’t ironic that the young man has an uplifting story to tell behind all this.
Unbelievably, this lad once had a situation where he used to sell pani puri in the streets and struggled to find shelter. He is one among the six children in the Jaiswal family. The only thing the family relied on living was a small hardware store run by his father Bhupendra. Making his way to IPL, from those hardships does contain an uplifting tale.
Yashasvi moved to Mumbai hearing that the place is great in promoting young talents. But it was not easy for him to purchase the cricket gear which is quite expensive. He used to work at a dairy and lived in a chawl. Luckily, all of this agony took a sudden turn when Jwala Singh, a renowned cricket coach in Mumbai entered his life.
The man was somehow a parent to Yashasvi as he put a roof over his head, and even obtained his power of attorney. We can still hear him referring to Jwala Singh as a man who changed his life apart. Thereafter, what Yashaswi mostly concentrated on was playing for Jwala sir for all that he did for him.
Jaiswal had a swashbuckling U-19 World cup, where he scored 400 runs at a remarkable average of 133. Naturally, the man of the series award came in search of him. All of this hard work paid off further as Rajastan Royals also purchased him in the auction for a huge prize. He didn’t disappoint them either, as we did see the ravaging 50 from 21 balls he scored in the recent match against Ms Dhoni’s CSK.
Yashasvi Jaiswal might be a great option as an opener for India in the future. The lad is not even in his twenties, and he was one of the choices for the IPL emerging player award. It won’t be late before he gets included as one of BCCI’s choices.
